ANOC today celebrated the International Day of Peace (21 September) and the role that sport can play in promoting a more collaborative and peaceful world.
Acting ANOC President Robin Mitchell said: “Every year we celebrate the International Day of Peace and reflect on how through sport, we within the NOC family, can contribute to more harmonious societies.
This year, with the current situation the world faces, the need to encourage solidarity and promote the Olympic values is as important as ever.
We have seen in 2020 that there is more that unites us than divides us and we have also seen how NOCs, through their athletes, have been able to inspire hope in their countries.
I have no doubt that our NOCs around the world will continue this great work and continue to foster understanding and unity.”
