The Somalia Police have suspended the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) activities for 3 days due to wide-spread corruption. This comes after public outrage iver Senior officers taking bribes.

The move means people looking for passports will have to wait until the investigations are done. Deputy police chief Zakia Hussein said the operations will resume once they finish investigations. Sakiya Hussein Ahmed, deputy police chief, who did not reveal the real reason, announced that the move was behind a public complaint.

In a statement posted on its Twitter account, the strike announced that the strike would be limited to three days and would resume.

The CID, located at the KM intersection in the capital city, provides a letter indicating that the citizen is innocent.

“It is during this time that we want to effectively reform the process of obtaining a criminal record. We are asking the honorable community to be patient with us during this process,” she said.

The move comes amid growing scandals surrounding the organization for its employees and officials taking bribes from citizens.
